National Guard Member Andrew Wolfe Honored with Purple Heart by President Trump

One of the National Guard members, Andrew Wolfe, was shot near D.C.'s Farragut Square and was honored by President Donald Trump with a Purple Heart. Wolfe, accompanied by his mother, was present at the State of the Union address, seated across from Sarah Beckstrom's family. Both Wolfe and Beckstrom, hailing from West Virginia, were injured during their National Guard deployment in Washington, D.C. President Trump shared a touching moment about Wolfe's mother's hope for his survival and also acknowledged Beckstrom's passing. As a result of his injuries, Wolfe was awarded the Purple Heart, a prestigious military decoration for those wounded or killed in the line of duty.
