Eileen Gu Makes History with Sixth Olympic Medal in Freestyle Skiing at 2026 Milan Cortina Games

Eileen Gu, the 22-year-old freestyle skiing sensation, secured another gold medal in the halfpipe event at the 2026 Milan Cortina Olympics. She now holds the record for the most Olympic medals in freestyle skiing history, with a total of six. Li Fanghui of China claimed the silver medal, while Zoe Atkin from Great Britain took home the bronze.

Gu made her mark on the Olympic stage at the age of 18 during the 2022 Beijing Games, where she won two gold medals and a silver. In Milan Cortina, she showcased her versatility by competing in halfpipe, slopestyle, and big air, earning medals in all three disciplines. Despite a stumble in her first run, Gu delivered a stellar performance in her second run, scoring a remarkable 94.75 to secure her second gold medal in the halfpipe event.

Hailing from San Francisco with an American father and Chinese mother, Gu proudly represents China at the Olympics. Similarly, Zoe Atkin, who was born and raised in Newton, Massachusetts, competes for Great Britain and attends Stanford University. Team USA was represented by Kate Gray from California, who finished 10th, and Svea Irving from Colorado, who placed 11th after a fall that led to a bruised hip and prevented her from completing her final run.

As the competition unfolds, stay tuned for further updates on this exciting event.
