Unveiling the Truth: Liza Minnelli's Memoir Chronicles Oscars Disappointment

Liza Minnelli expresses her disappointment with the Oscars in her upcoming memoir, "Kids, Wait Till You Hear This!" During the 2022 Oscars, Minnelli, known for her role in "Cabaret," presented the award for best picture with Lady Gaga. However, Minnelli felt disoriented on stage and stumbled over her words. She was in a wheelchair, a decision she claims was forced upon her by the Academy, despite her preference for a director's chair to better see the teleprompter.

In her book, Minnelli reveals her frustration at being told to sit in a wheelchair without her consent, citing age and safety concerns as reasons. Feeling heartbroken and disadvantaged by the seating arrangement, Minnelli struggled to read the teleprompter from her lower position. Gaga, by her side, offered support and reassurance, telling Minnelli, "I got you."

Minnelli recounts how Gaga visited her dressing room after learning about her distress over the wheelchair incident. Despite the challenges, Minnelli maintained her composure and gratitude, recalling the lesson she learned from her parents to remain gracious in times of stress. Reflecting on the experience, Minnelli sees writing her memoir as a fitting conclusion, her own "coda," to share her truth and find the silver lining in challenging situations.

Minnelli's memoir, "Kids, Wait Till You Hear This!" is set to be released on March 10.
