Trader Joe's Chicken Fried Rice Recall: Glass Contamination Alert

A Portland-based company is issuing a recall of approximately 3.4 million pounds of frozen chicken fried rice products that were sold at Trader Joe's stores and in Canada due to potential contamination with glass fragments. Ajinomoto Foods North America Inc. has voluntarily removed Trader Joe's Chicken Fried Rice from shelves across the country. The affected product, packaged in 20-ounce plastic bags, consists of fried rice, vegetables, chicken meat, and eggs, with best-by dates ranging from Sept. 8 to Nov. 17, 2026. These items bear the establishment number P-18356 within the USDA mark of inspection. Additionally, the company is recalling cardboard packages containing six bags of frozen Ajinomoto Yakitori Chicken with Japanese-Style Rice, with best-by dates falling between Sept. 9 and Nov. 12, 2026, which were exclusively distributed in Canada.

The recall was initiated following customer complaints of discovering glass pieces in the product. Fortunately, no injuries have been reported thus far. Consumers are advised to refrain from consuming the affected items and dispose of them properly or return them to the store of purchase.

In light of the potential safety hazard posed by the presence of glass in the frozen chicken fried rice products, Ajinomoto Foods North America Inc. has taken swift action to recall the items from Trader Joe's stores and Canadian retailers. Customers who have purchased the recalled products are urged to exercise caution and follow the recommended disposal or return procedures to ensure their safety and well-being.
