Ed Sheeran recently visited Ipswich, Australia, ahead of his Brisbane shows, following a social media campaign to bring him to the city that shares a name with his English hometown. Ipswich mayor Teresa Harding tried to entice Sheeran to Ipswich during his Australia tour, starting with an interview on 4BC in May 2025. The campaign gained momentum with a local pub serving "Ed Beeran" on tap and a Paint the Town Ed party hosted by a radio channel, featuring Sheeran cut-outs and a mural of the pop star. Sheeran has a history of visiting towns named Ipswich, like the one he was born in on England's east coast. Although he didn't perform, Sheeran signed the mural and left a message for Harding before heading to his Brisbane shows.
