Governor Wes Moore Stands Firm: Worthiness Not Determined by President
Maryland Governor Wes Moore responded to President Trump's exclusion from a White House dinner, stating that his worthiness is not determined by the president. Moore emphasized that he will not engage in name-calling and will work with anyone but will not bow down to anyone, including the president. The governor's remarks came during a town hall interview with CBS News senior correspondent Norah O'Donnell, scheduled to air on Sunday evening.
President Trump had announced that all governors in the U.S. would be invited to a formal meeting and dinner at the White House, except for two Democrats, Moore and Colorado Governor Jared Polis. Trump criticized Moore's performance as governor, calling him "foul-mouthed" and questioning his military service. Moore clarified that his worthiness is determined by God and the people of Maryland, not by the president.
Initially, the Trump administration planned to exclude all Democratic governors from a formal business meeting at the White House, leading to most Democratic governors boycotting the event in solidarity with Moore and Polis. Despite the exclusion, Governor Polis remains focused on working with fellow governors to improve people's lives, regardless of the events Colorado is or isn't invited to.
