BTS THE CITY ARIRANG SEOUL: Transforming Seoul into a Vibrant Artistic Landscape

BTS is gearing up to turn Seoul into a vibrant artistic landscape this spring to mark their anticipated return as a full band after nearly four years. The upcoming event, BTS THE CITY ARIRANG SEOUL, is set to run from March 20 to April 12, 2026, coinciding with the release of their fifth studio album, ARIRANG. The initiative will see various iconic locations in the city transformed into interactive experience zones, offering fans and visitors a unique and immersive experience.

As part of their promotional activities, BTS will host BTS THE COMEBACK LIVE | ARIRANG, a free concert at Gwanghwamun Square on March 21, which will be live-streamed globally on Netflix. The concert is expected to attract a massive audience and will kick off the release of their new album, ARIRANG, featuring 14 tracks that delve into themes of identity, longing, and reunion. On the album's launch day, landmarks like Sungnyemun Gate and Seoul Tower will be illuminated as media facades, blending contemporary visual art with Korea's rich cultural heritage.

In addition to the citywide festival, BTS will also host a lounge-style event at Yeouido Hangang Park until March 22, offering the public a chance to listen to their music in a unique setting. Throughout April, downtown Seoul will see various locations transformed into exhibition-style displays showcasing the lyrics of BTS' songs through light and video installations. The festival is a collaborative effort between BTS and the Seoul Metropolitan Government, aiming to provide a diverse cultural experience for both locals and visitors.

BTS' return with ARIRANG has already generated significant buzz, with the album receiving record-breaking pre-saves on Spotify and topping worldwide pre-release charts. The accompanying World Tour, set to kick off in April 2026 with 82 events across different continents, is expected to further solidify BTS' global presence in the entertainment industry. The group's world tour announcements have also led to a surge in travel interest to South Korean cities, highlighting their significant impact on tourism and local consumption.

By transforming Seoul into a city-scale media art installation, BTS THE CITY ARIRANG SEOUL goes beyond a traditional comeback, offering fans a unique and engaging experience that bridges Korean tradition with modern technology. This innovative approach not only showcases BTS as performers but also positions them as creators of a global cultural phenomenon. The event marks a significant moment in the group's career, setting the stage for a highly anticipated album release and world tour.
