These events include the World Cup, Women’s U.S. Open, Super Bowl, and the Olympics, showcasing Los Angeles as a prominent destination for sports and cultural celebrations. The city will host free community celebrations in public parks for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with several games scheduled at SoFi Stadium.

In her address, Mayor Bass emphasized the values and diversity of Los Angeles, stating that the city will be prepared to welcome the world with open arms. Additionally, a partnership with Angel City Football Club was announced to promote youth sports, with a significant investment to benefit young athletes across the city. The Department of Recreation and Parks will also organize Golf for Girls clinics during the U.S. Women’s Open in June.

The Clean Corridors Initiative aims to enhance city corridors by expediting efforts such as trash pickup, graffiti removal, and landscaping ahead of major events. Volunteers with Shine LA will participate in a cleanup at Hansen Dam Recreation Center, the site of an official Los Angeles World Cup 26 Fan Zone. Mayor Bass highlighted the Inside Safe program's efforts to address homelessness by clearing encampments and providing housing solutions for residents in need.

As Mayor Bass concluded her address, she emphasized the city's commitment to ending street homelessness and creating more affordable housing units. The upcoming mayoral election in June will determine her potential re-election, with a runoff in November if needed. Despite facing criticism in the past year, Mayor Bass remains focused on addressing the city's challenges and building a brighter future for Los Angeles.
