The Tragic Case of Jordan Cole Weems: A 16-Year-Old Charged as an Adult in the Death of His Adoptive Mother

A 16-year-old boy has been charged as an adult in the death of his adoptive mother, Spring Weems, whose body was found in a trash can at their home in Edmond. The teenager, Jordan Cole Weems, reportedly admitted to killing her after a series of events that led to the tragic incident. Jordan had been in trouble for sneaking out of the house and running away, leading to disciplinary measures such as wearing an orange jumpsuit to simulate life as a prisoner.

According to reports, Jordan had expressed his intention to kill his mother to his brother in the days leading up to the incident. When Spring Weems went missing, her biological son became concerned and contacted his father, who then reported her disappearance to the authorities. Subsequently, Jordan confessed to his father that he had killed his mother with a hammer and disposed of her body in a trash can.

Following his arrest, Jordan admitted during an interview with investigators that he had attacked Spring Weems with a hammer when she came out of the kitchen, striking her repeatedly until she stopped moving. He then placed her body in a trash can and rolled it to the curb. Jordan has been charged with first-degree murder, desecration of a human corpse, and unauthorized removal of a dead body in Logan County.

The Logan County District Attorney's office argued against granting bail to Jordan, stating that the killing was premeditated and not a crime of passion. They emphasized that Jordan had planned the attack by retrieving a hammer and waiting for his mother to unsuspectingly come upon him. Despite being charged as an adult, the district attorney's office suggested that Jordan would be better served in a juvenile detention facility. The tragic events surrounding Spring Weems' death have shocked the community and raised questions about the circumstances leading to the crime.
