California Woman Arrested for Allegedly Decapitating Boyfriend: The Shocking Case of Alyssa Marie Lira
A woman from California was arrested for allegedly decapitating her boyfriend and fleeing to Mexico. Alyssa Marie Lira of Anaheim was charged with murder in the death of Enrique Gonzalez-Carbajal of Santa Ana. She is also facing a sentencing enhancement for the personal use of a deadly weapon. Anaheim officers found Gonzalez-Carbajal's decapitated body during a welfare check on Aug. 25. Lira immediately fled to Mexico after his death but was arrested months later and transported to Orange County. The Anaheim Police Department, Orange County District Attorney’s Organized Crime Unit, FBI, and Mexican authorities assisted in the search for her. Orange County District Attorney Todd Spitzer emphasized that justice will be pursued regardless of time or distance and that Lira will face the full weight of the law if convicted. An arraignment for Lira was scheduled for Feb. 13.
