Introducing Gemini 3: Chrome's New Features for Windows, macOS, and Chromebook Plus

Chrome for Windows, macOS, and Chromebook Plus is introducing a range of new features powered by Gemini 3. These enhancements include a new side panel, deeper integration with popular Google apps, and auto-browse functionality. The new Gemini in Chrome aims to provide users with an assistant-like experience to simplify web browsing and task completion. Additionally, users can expect more personalized assistance with Personal Intelligence in the near future.

The new side panel feature in Chrome's Gemini allows users to multitask by keeping a tab open while accessing a second view for different tasks. This feature enables users to compare options, summarize product reviews, and manage calendar events more efficiently. The side panel will be available starting January 28.

Auto browse functionality is designed for Gemini AI Pro and Ultra subscribers in the U.S. This feature allows users to delegate multi-step tasks to Gemini, such as scheduling appointments, filling out forms, and managing subscriptions. Auto browse will be available in preview in the U.S. from January 28 and can utilize Google Password Manager for sign-ins.

Gemini in Chrome users will have access to Nano Banana integration, enabling them to generate photorealistic images directly from a prompt in the side panel using Gemini 3's Nano Banana model. This feature will also be rolled out on January 28.

The integration of popular Google apps like Gmail, Calendar, YouTube, Maps, Google Shopping, and Google Flights with Gemini in Chrome allows users to leverage data from these apps for enhanced functionality. By enabling app access in Gemini settings, users can benefit from personalized recommendations and context-aware assistance. This feature was launched on January 12.

Chromebook Plus devices will support Gemini in Chrome starting January 28, expanding the availability of these new features to a wider range of users. Additionally, Chrome will support Google's Universal Commerce Protocol (UCP), facilitating seamless interaction with various websites for agentic commerce.

Personal Intelligence, introduced to Gemini in the U.S. and AI Mode in Google Search, will soon be available in Gemini in Chrome. This feature enhances the browsing experience by providing tailored responses based on past conversations and user preferences. With Personal Intelligence, users have control over their data and can choose to connect or disconnect apps at any time, ensuring a personalized and proactive browsing experience.
