Federal Judge Blocks Immediate Deportation of Minnesota Preschooler Liam Conejo Ramos

A federal judge ruled on Monday that a Minnesota preschooler, Liam Conejo Ramos, who was detained in Texas with his father, cannot be deported immediately. Liam was separated from his family after his father, Adrian Alexander Conejo Arias, was apprehended by federal agents. The Department of Homeland Security claimed that Liam's father, an "illegal alien" from Ecuador, was taken into custody, and Liam was taken with him to the South Texas Family Residential Center in Dilley, Texas.
The family's attorney argued that Liam's father had not committed any crimes and had followed all the necessary procedures to seek asylum in the US. The father filed a lawsuit against several federal officials, including the DHS Secretary and the US Attorney General. In response to the lawsuit, the federal judge issued a ruling that prevented the immediate deportation or transfer of Liam and his father.
The court document stated that any removal or transfer of Adrian Conejo Arias and Liam Conejo Ramos is immediately stayed until further order from the court. The ruling also specified that the petitioners should not be transferred outside of the judicial district during the ongoing litigation. The family's attorney and DHS have not provided any comments on the matter.
This situation is still developing, and updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
