High-Ranking Chinese Officials Zhang Youxia and Liu Zhenli Under Investigation for Corruption
China announced on Saturday that two high-ranking officials, Zhang Youxia and Liu Zhenli, are under investigation for suspected serious violations of discipline, which is often a term used for corruption. Zhang Youxia, 74, is a close ally of Chinese President Xi Jinping and has a long history in the armed forces. He is responsible for overseeing military operations, training, and weapons procurement within the People's Liberation Army (PLA). Liu Zhenli, 61, is a member of the Central Military Commission (CMC) and serves as the Joint Staff Department chief, overseeing joint operations, training, and combat readiness within the PLA.
