Theft of Miami Hurricanes Championship Ring at Fontainebleau Hotel: Employee Arrested

An employee at the famous Fontainebleau hotel in Miami Beach was arrested by the Miami Beach Police for allegedly stealing a Miami Hurricanes championship ring from the hotel lobby. The theft occurred while the University of Miami team was staying at the hotel for the championship game. Surveillance footage captured the suspect, identified as Jean Dor, taking the ring from the lobby and pocketing it before leaving the hotel. The ring belonged to Cari-Anne Constant, a former co-captain of the Sunsations dance team, who had received the ring as a special memento.
Constant had taken the ring to a party at the LIV nightclub within the hotel to celebrate the championship game. She briefly took off the ring and placed it on a table, only to realize it was missing as she left the hotel. Dor was seen on surveillance video leaving the property with the ring, examining it outside, and then re-entering the hotel with the ring still in his possession. Despite finding the ring, Dor did not return it to the lost and found or notify hotel staff.
The stolen ring held sentimental value to Constant, and her boyfriend, Joe Mullins, expressed shock and disappointment over the incident. The ring, valued at approximately $3,500, was not returned by Dor, who claimed he had intended to turn it in but forgot it on a bathroom counter while cleaning. Dor was suspended from his job, banned from the Fontainebleau property, and arrested by the police for failing to return the stolen ring.
Mullins emphasized the sentimental significance of the ring to Constant and hoped that Dor would do the right thing by returning it. Efforts to obtain surveillance footage and comments from the hotel and police regarding the theft have not been successful at this time. The incident has left Constant and Mullins disturbed by the theft of the cherished championship ring.
