Carlos Beltran and Andruw Jones Elected to Baseball Hall of Fame: Mets Consider Retiring Beltran's No. 15

Carlos Beltran and Andruw Jones have been elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame by the Baseball Writers’ Association of America. Beltran, a former Mets outfielder, expressed his intention to wear a Mets cap on his plaque. He would be joining Tom Seaver and Mike Piazza as the only Mets representatives in Cooperstown. The Mets are considering retiring Beltran’s No. 15 this season, but logistical challenges may delay the ceremony.
Beltran had a successful 20-year career, hitting 435 home runs and earning nine All-Star selections. He also won three Gold Gloves and two Silver Sluggers. Jones, known for his exceptional defense in center field, won 10 Gold Gloves and hit 434 home runs over 17 seasons. Jeff Kent, a former Mets second baseman, will also be enshrined in the Hall of Fame alongside Beltran and Jones. Kent was elected by the Contemporary Era Baseball Committee last month.
