BTS Announces ARIRANG Comeback Album and Potential Free Concert at Gwanghwamun Square
BTS, the global K-pop sensation, is gearing up for an exciting year with the announcement of their highly anticipated comeback album, ARIRANG. This album marks their first group release in almost four years, following the completion of all seven members' mandatory military service, sparking enthusiasm among fans worldwide.
Recent online reports have hinted at a potential free concert by BTS at Seoul's iconic Gwanghwamun Square to coincide with the album's release on March 20. The news quickly spread on social media platforms, prompting a response from the group's agency, BIGHIT MUSIC, who stated that discussions are ongoing and an official announcement will be made once the details are finalized.
Industry sources have revealed that BIGHIT MUSIC has applied for permission to film and host events at several culturally significant locations, including Gwanghwamun Square, Gyeongbokgung Palace, and the Sungnyemun Gate area. The Cultural Heritage Committee is expected to review the proposal later this month, potentially setting the stage for BTS to perform at these iconic landmarks.
BTS has confirmed that their fifth full-length album, ARIRANG, will be released on March 20, 2026, featuring 14 tracks in multiple versions. Pre-orders and pre-saves for the album are already available, indicating high anticipation for its launch.
Following the album release, BTS will embark on a global tour starting at Goyang Stadium on April 9, with plans for 79 concerts in 34 cities worldwide. The tour is expected to feature a cutting-edge 360-degree stage design, offering fans an immersive concert experience.
Notably, BTS has a history of hosting large-scale free concerts, such as the Yet to Come in BUSAN concert in 2022, which drew nearly 100,000 fans at Busan Asiad Main Stadium.
