Chicago Surgeon Indicted for Double Homicide in Columbus: The Case of Michael David McKee

A man has been indicted by a grand jury in Ohio for the double homicide of his ex-wife and her husband in Columbus. Michael David McKee, a 39-year-old vascular surgeon living in Chicago, has been charged with aggravated murder and aggravated burglary in connection with the shooting deaths of Monique Tepe, 39, and Dr. Spencer Tepe, 37, in their home on Dec. 30. McKee was apprehended in Rockford, Illinois, and is currently held without bail after waiving his right to an extradition hearing.
Authorities believe McKee was the individual captured on video near the victims' home on the night of the murders. His vehicle was also identified in the vicinity, and a firearm found in his Illinois residence matched evidence at the crime scene. The type of firearm used in the killings has not been disclosed. The arrest of McKee followed nearly two weeks of speculation surrounding the case, as no forced entry, weapon, or signs of theft were found at the scene. The couple's children and dog were unharmed.
Columbus Police Chief Elaine Bryant expressed gratitude to the community for providing tips that aided in McKee's arrest. She emphasized the importance of public cooperation in solving the case and encouraged continued communication with law enforcement. The investigation is ongoing, and McKee is scheduled for a hearing in Winnebago County, Illinois, on Jan. 23.
