Tragedy struck in Florida as two 14-year-old best friends lost their lives when a hand-dug hole collapsed on them while they were digging in sugar sand near Sportsman Park in Inverness. Sugar sand, a fine and soft sand commonly found in Florida, caused the collapse when the boys were about four to five feet deep. It took first responders half an hour to rescue them from the collapsed hole.
