ICE Requests Custody of Suspect in Charlotte Double Murder Case

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has requested custody of an undocumented immigrant accused of killing two teenage boys in Charlotte, North Carolina. The suspect, 22-year-old Aristides Eli Orellana-Ramirez from El Salvador, is facing charges related to a double murder that took place on December 20, 2025. According to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, Orellana-Ramirez allegedly shot 16-year-old Bravlio Galeano Ayala and 18-year-old Samir Canales Molina. Despite the victims being found separately, it is believed that they were shot at the same location and sought help in different directions. Both Ayala and Molina succumbed to their injuries at a nearby hospital.
The tragic loss of these young lives at the hands of a criminal undocumented immigrant has sparked outrage. Tricia McLaughlin from the Department of Homeland Security expressed sorrow over the senseless deaths of Ayala and Molina, emphasizing that their futures were cut short by someone who should not have been in the country. ICE has issued an arrest detainer for Orellana-Ramirez, but challenges arise when sanctuary policies in North Carolina prevent federal authorities from accessing jails and detaining known criminals. Operation Charlotte’s Web, initiated by President Trump and Secretary Noem, aims to address this issue by targeting criminal undocumented immigrants and removing them from American communities.
Orellana-Ramirez entered the United States illegally by evading Border Patrol agents at the U.S.-Mexico border. This incident underscores the challenges posed by individuals who circumvent immigration laws and commit serious crimes within the country. ICE's efforts to apprehend Orellana-Ramirez highlight the importance of enforcing immigration laws and ensuring the safety of communities across the nation. The tragic deaths of Ayala and Molina serve as a reminder of the consequences of illegal immigration and the need for effective measures to address such incidents.
