Actor Awards Nominations Announcement: A Preview of Potential Oscar Winners

The Actor Awards, previously known as the SAG Awards, are set to reveal their nominations on Netflix's YouTube Channel at 1 p.m. EST. This event marks the first year under the new name for the prestigious awards show, which is a significant indicator of potential Oscar winners. The Actor Awards, presented by the Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists, offer insights into the preferences of the Academy's largest branch, the actors, with over 160,000 members.

The highly anticipated nominations for the best ensemble award are expected to include Paul Thomas Anderson's "One Battle After Another" and Ryan Coogler's "Sinners." While Leonardo DiCaprio and Michael B. Jordan are strong contenders for best male actor, Timothée Chalamet's performance in "Marty Supreme" has been gaining momentum. Chalamet, who won the same award last year for his role as Bob Dylan in "A Complete Unknown," expressed his pursuit of greatness during his acceptance speech.

In the past, the Actor Awards have closely aligned with the Oscar nominations, but there have been instances of divergence. Last year, "Anora" won the Oscar for best picture, while "Conclave" took home the best ensemble award at the Actor Awards. The best female actor category also saw a switch from Demi Moore to Mickey Madison. This year, Jessie Buckley, Amy Madigan, and Stellan Skarsgård are among the favorites for their outstanding performances in "Hamnet," "Weapons," and "Sentimental Value," respectively.

The Actor Awards ceremony is scheduled to take place on Sunday, March 1, at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, with Netflix streaming the event live. The legendary actor Harrison Ford will be honored with the guild's prestigious life achievement award.
