Sydney Cake Picnic: Indulge in a Sweet Social Event

Cake Picnic is a popular social event where attendees are required to bring a cake to share in order to gain entry. The event features a wide variety of cakes, from rainbow-sprinkled towers to rich mud cakes and cream-filled sponges. The concept was created by Elise Sunga in 2024, who wanted to indulge in a variety of cakes without having to bake them all herself. The event quickly gained popularity and has since expanded to various cities around the world, including London and now Sydney.

The first Australian Cake Picnic will take place on March 21 in Melbourne and on March 28 in Sydney at the Royal Botanic Garden's Tarpeian Lawn. Participants are required to bring a single, uncut cake that measures at least 20cm wide and 7.5cm tall. The event is open to all cake enthusiasts, from professional pastry chefs to home bakers and even those who have never baked before. The diverse crowd gathers to enjoy a morning outdoors indulging in sweet treats.

Cake Picnic attendees are encouraged to get creative with their cakes, with some opting for savory creations like tomato focaccia cake or shrimp Swedish cake. While cupcakes, tarts, and pies are not allowed, exceptions are made for unique celebratory desserts. The event is expected to draw a crowd of 500 people in Sydney, with tickets priced at $49 each. Participants can purchase cakes from bakeries or cake shops if they prefer not to bake their own.

If you're a cake lover looking for a fun and delicious experience, don't miss the opportunity to join Cake Picnic in Sydney on March 28. Indulge in a variety of cakes, meet fellow cake enthusiasts, and enjoy a beautiful morning in the Royal Botanic Garden. Tickets are available for purchase on the Cake Picnic website.
