Remembering Tatiana Schlossberg: A Tribute to an Environmental Journalist and Advocate

We are saddened to learn of the passing of Tatiana Schlossberg at the age of 35. Schlossberg was a respected environmental journalist and author, known for her work as a science and climate reporter for the New York Times, as well as contributions to publications like The Washington Post, Vanity Fair, The Atlantic, and Bloomberg. She was the granddaughter of former President John F. Kennedy and the daughter of Caroline Kennedy.
In May 2024, Schlossberg received a devastating diagnosis of acute myeloid leukemia shortly after giving birth to her second child. Despite her initial good health and active lifestyle, she bravely shared her terminal diagnosis in November, reflecting on her shock and the suddenness of her illness. Schlossberg's poignant essay highlighted her commitment to raising awareness and funds for leukemia research, even participating in a charity swim across the Hudson River.
Tatiana Schlossberg's untimely passing is a loss to the journalism and environmental communities. Her dedication to reporting on critical issues like climate change and her personal journey with illness have left a lasting impact. Our thoughts are with her family, friends, and colleagues during this difficult time.
