Recall Alert: Forward Farms Grass-Fed Ground Beef Recalled Due to E. coli Contamination

A recent recall has been issued for a food product due to potential E. coli contamination, as reported by the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service. Mountain West Food Group LLC, based in Idaho, is recalling approximately 2,855 pounds of raw ground beef after E. coli O26 was detected during routine testing. The affected product, labeled as “Forward Farms Grass-Fed Ground Beef,” was produced on Dec. 16 and distributed to retailers in California, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Pennsylvania, and Washington. Consumers are advised to check for one-pound vacuum-sealed packages with a use-or-freeze-by date of Jan. 13 of the following year and establishment number “EST. 2083” on the packaging.
While no illnesses have been reported in connection with the recalled product, consumers are urged to discard it and refrain from consuming it. E. coli O26 is a strain of Shiga toxin-producing E. coli that can cause symptoms like diarrhea, vomiting, and abdominal cramps. Individuals at higher risk of complications include young children, older adults, and those with weakened immune systems. If you have purchased the recalled product, it is recommended to either dispose of it or return it to the store of purchase. Additionally, consumers are reminded to handle raw meat products safely and cook them to an internal temperature of 160 degrees Fahrenheit using a food thermometer.
