Trump, Putin, and Zelensky Discuss Ukraine Peace Plan: What to Expect from the Meeting

President Donald Trump had a productive phone call with Russian President Vladimir Putin before his meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Florida. Zelensky is expected to present a new peace plan for Ukraine during the meeting. Trump has not committed to the plan, and Putin has not indicated whether Russia would accept it. The meeting will be the first in-person encounter between Trump and Zelensky since October. The peace plan includes potential territorial concessions by Ukraine but does not involve withdrawing from the eastern Donetsk region. Zelensky received support from European allies before the meeting, and he emphasized the need for security guarantees to prevent Russian aggression. Russia has accused Ukraine and its European backers of undermining previous peace efforts and has made recent battlefield gains in eastern Ukraine. Putin has warned of military action if peaceful solutions are not pursued.
