Recording Academy Honors 2026: Celebrating Pharrell Williams, Brandy, and Kirk Franklin

The Recording Academy's Black Music Collective (BMC) will host the fourth annual Recording Academy Honors to celebrate the careers of music legends Pharrell Williams, Brandy, and Kirk Franklin on January 29, 2026. The event will take place at the Fairmont Century Plaza in Santa Monica, just before Music's Biggest Night®. Williams will receive the Dr. Dre Global Impact Award, Brandy and Franklin will both be honored with the Black Music Icon Award for their significant contributions to the music industry. The BMC has a history of recognizing and supporting Black music creators and industry leaders, with past honorees including Alicia Keys, JAY-Z, and Mariah Carey.

Pharrell Williams, a multi-talented artist, has won 13 GRAMMY Awards and is known for his musical achievements, entrepreneurial ventures, and philanthropic efforts. Brandy, a multi-platinum, GRAMMY Award-winning singer, songwriter, and actress, has made a lasting impact on pop music history with her powerful voice and genre-defining catalog. Kirk Franklin, a 20-time GRAMMY Award-winning artist, songwriter, and producer, has redefined contemporary gospel music with his innovative fusion of gospel, R&B, hip-hop, and pop. These three artists have inspired generations of musicians worldwide with their creativity and talent.

Williams, in addition to his music career, has founded nonprofits like YELLOW and launched initiatives like SOMETHING IN THE WATER festival and Humanrace. Brandy continues to evolve as a vocalist and storyteller, with recent projects like her holiday album "Christmas With Brandy" and upcoming memoir "PHASES." Franklin's influence spans music, television, and film, with recent projects like his album "Father's Day" and original series "Den of Kings." He also supports emerging talent through initiatives like Camp Lotus and advocates for organizations like Compassion International and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

The Recording Academy Honors event will be produced by MVD Inc., with Adam Blackstone as the music supervisor. Guests will enjoy specialty cocktails by PATRÓN Tequila during the celebration.
