America250: Double Ball Drop Celebration in Times Square for New Year's Eve and July 4th
Get ready for a unique New Year's Eve celebration in Times Square as the iconic ball will drop twice to mark America's 250th anniversary. The first drop will happen at midnight, followed by a relighting of the ball with an America250 design and a second drop at 12:04 a.m. ET. Along with the double ball drop, there will be a special video presentation, a confetti drop in red, white, and blue, and a pyrotechnic finale set to Ray Charles' rendition of "America the Beautiful."
America250 has planned a series of events leading up to the midnight celebration, including the unveiling of the America250 Ball Design at One Times Square during the national anthem at 6:04 p.m. ET. This moment will also mark the beginning of a partnership that will include another ball drop on July 4th, making it a year-long celebration of America's 250th anniversary.
The New Year's Eve festivities will be broadcast live on major networks like ABC and CBS, as well as on Times Square's official website starting at 6 p.m. ET on December 31st. Viewers can enjoy commercial-free coverage, backstage access, interviews with performers, and more. A livestream with open captions and American Sign Language interpretation will also be available on YouTube.
In a historic move, the Constellation Ball will drop again on July 3rd, marking the first time the ball will drop on Independence Day. This event will anchor America250's nationwide celebrations and highlight New York City's role in the nation's Semiquincentennial. Join in the celebration and be part of this momentous occasion to commemorate America's 250th anniversary.
