Texas Repeat Offender Arrested for Involvement in Three Shootings: Abraham Herrera's Crime Spree

A Texas repeat offender has been arrested for his alleged involvement in three separate shootings within a month. Abraham Herrera, 21, is facing charges related to two drive-by shootings and a SWAT standoff in Hays County, located near Austin. The incidents occurred in November, with the first shooting taking place in Kyle, where a homeowner was seriously injured.

Herrera was involved in a barricade incident in Buda just nine days later, where he fled into a wooded area and refused to surrender to authorities. After a standoff with SWAT, he was apprehended, and a firearm and ammunition were recovered at the scene. Despite the charges, Herrera was released from jail shortly after the standoff.

Subsequently, investigators linked Herrera to a second drive-by shooting in Martindale over the Thanksgiving weekend. He was taken into custody on an outstanding warrant issued by the Texas Rangers. Shell casings found at the scene of the November shooting in Kyle were connected to the firearm seized from Herrera during the SWAT standoff.

Herrera now faces additional charges, including aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, disorderly conduct with a firearm, tampering with physical evidence, and evading arrest. His total bond amount is set at $409,500. The Hays County Sheriff’s Office and Hays County District Attorney's Office have not responded to requests for comment.
