US Lawyers Find Inaccuracies in Prince Andrew's Statements: Email Revelations

Newly released emails reveal that US lawyers found "various factual inaccuracies" in Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor's statements during their investigation into Jeffrey Epstein. The emails show a public dispute between Andrew and US prosecutors regarding his cooperation with their interview requests. Andrew's legal team had previously stated that he offered his assistance as a witness to the Department of Justice on multiple occasions.

In a June 2020 email, an unnamed lawyer from New York suggested issuing a brief statement in response to Andrew's counsel's press release, focusing on future actions rather than addressing the inaccuracies in Andrew's past accounts. Former southern district of New York attorney Geoff Berman publicly accused Andrew of trying to misrepresent himself as eager to cooperate.

The emails were part of a document release by the Department of Justice, which included an anonymous tip from Finland alleging that Jeffrey Epstein organized pedophilia involving Prince Andrew. The tip mentioned possible evidence in the Bahamas and Brazil, prompting further investigation.

Following a series of controversies, including Andrew's resignation from royal duties in 2019 and the release of documents from Epstein's estate, the King stripped Andrew of his HRH style and prince title. US politicians have criticized Andrew for his lack of response to interview requests regarding Epstein, and he settled a civil sexual assault claim with Virginia Giuffre in 2022.
