Recall Alert: Direct Source Seafood LLC Recalls 83,000 Bags of Frozen Raw Shrimp Due to Radioactive Contamination

A seafood distributor, Direct Source Seafood LLC, has issued a recall for over 83,000 bags of frozen raw shrimp due to potential radioactive contamination. The recall affects products imported from Indonesia and sold under the Market 32 and Waterfront Bistro brands in 17 states. The FDA is investigating reports of cesium-137 contamination in shipping containers and frozen shrimp products manufactured by PT. Bahari Makmur Sejati. Consuming or inhaling cesium-137 can increase the risk of cancer, according to the CDC. While no illnesses have been reported, consumers are advised to dispose of or return the affected shrimp and contact Direct Source Seafood with any questions.
