KJ Muldoon: A Miracle Child's Journey to Walking Again with Groundbreaking Gene Therapy at CHOP

A remarkable child, KJ Muldoon, underwent groundbreaking gene therapy at CHOP and has achieved a significant milestone by taking his first steps. He was the inaugural recipient of personalized gene-editing therapy, also known as CRISPR, which was developed by doctors in Philadelphia to combat a life-threatening condition that caused ammonia to accumulate in his body. Following his discharge from the hospital in the summer, the 16-month-old has been flourishing and growing steadily.

KJ's father, Kyle Muldoon, expressed his joy at witnessing his son's progress, noting that they are avid Eagles fans and had ordered a Jalen Hurts jersey for KJ when he was born, unsure if he would ever wear it. Witnessing KJ accomplish feats they once thought impossible has been a source of inspiration for the Muldoon family. They are eagerly anticipating celebrating KJ's first Christmas at their home in Clifton Heights, Delaware County.
