2026 Met Gala and 'Costume Art' Exhibition: A Star-Studded Affair Exploring the Relationship Between Clothing and the Body

Beyoncé, Nicole Kidman, and Venus Williams have been announced as co-chairs for the 2026 Met Gala, which will coincide with the launch of the Met Museum's new exhibition, "Costume Art." The exhibition, curated by Andrew Bolton, will explore the relationship between clothing and the body throughout history, showcasing garments that have shaped and interacted with the human form. Divided into thematic sections like the "Naked Body" and "Aging Body," the exhibition will feature works from the Met's collection and will be housed in a newly built gallery space adjacent to the Great Hall. The exhibition will run from May 10, 2026, to January 10, 2027.
The Met Gala, set for May 4, 2026, will serve as a fundraiser for the Met's Costume Institute, with Zoë Kravitz and Anthony Vaccarello leading the host committee. The event will feature a star-studded lineup, including Sabrina Carpenter, Doja Cat, Misty Copeland, and others. Kidman and Williams, who attended the 2024 Gala, will join Beyoncé, who is making her return after a decade. With these influential figures at the helm, the 2026 Met Gala is already generating buzz in the fashion, entertainment, and cultural worlds.
