Billy Ray Cyrus has refuted a lawsuit filed by Jayme Lee, who claims to be Miley Cyrus's biological mother. Lee alleges that she gave birth to Miley at the age of 12 and had a private adoption agreement with Billy Ray and Tish Cyrus. She accuses Billy Ray of misrepresenting the adoption circumstances, causing her emotional distress. Lee sought a trial for DNA testing but was denied by a judge in October. Billy Ray filed a motion to dismiss Lee's claims, stating that the lawsuit was harassing his family. The lawsuit was ultimately dismissed with prejudice, and Billy Ray was awarded attorney's fees and costs.

Billy Ray and Tish Cyrus have three children together, Miley, Braison, and Noah, and Billy Ray also adopted Tish's children from a previous marriage.
