Air Transat Pilots' Union Issues Strike Notice: Negotiations Continue to Avoid Potential Strike

Air Transat's pilots' union has issued a 72-hour strike notice, potentially leading to a strike as early as Wednesday. The pilots voted in favor of giving their union the power to declare a strike. The Air Line Pilots Association, International (ALPA) is still aiming to reach an agreement with Air Transat management before resorting to a strike. Capt. Bradley Small, chair of the Air Transat Master Executive Council, expressed that while pilots do not wish to strike, the management's actions have left them with no alternative. Small emphasized the possibility of avoiding a strike if significant progress is made before Wednesday. Negotiations between ALPA and the airline began in January, focusing on pay, benefits, work rules, and job security to replace the current 2015 agreement.
