Covenant Coffee's 'Holidays in the Great Hall' Event: A Magical Experience Despite Trademark Challenge

A nonprofit coffee shop in Bakersfield, Covenant Coffee, recently received a cease and desist letter from Warner Bros. The letter was in response to Covenant Coffee's Harry Potter-themed event called "Holidays at Hogwarts." The event featured themed decorations and drinks, but Warner Bros. requested the removal of all Harry Potter-related content due to trademark infringement. Covenant Coffee renamed the event to "Holidays in the Great Hall" and adjusted some drink names to comply with the request.

Despite the changes, Covenant Coffee is continuing with the event, which will run until December 6. The coffee shop is inviting families and children to participate in fun activities on the last day of the event. Additionally, customers can contribute to a Christmas gift drive by picking up tags from the Christmas trees at Covenant's locations, purchasing gifts, and returning them to the shop to spread holiday cheer.

While Warner Bros. has not commented on the situation, Covenant Coffee is determined to provide a magical experience for its customers during the event. The coffee shop remains committed to its mission of supporting and empowering former and current foster children through education and employment opportunities.
