Remembering Emily Finn: A Tribute at the American Ballet Studio

A dance studio in Bayport is paying tribute to Emily Finn, a young woman from West Sayville who tragically lost her life. The studio is adorned with pink ribbons, a scholarship has been set up in her name, and the upcoming "Nutcracker" performance will be dedicated to her. Finn, who was a student and later a teacher at the American Ballet Studio, was remembered by her teacher Megan Scholz as a quiet and sweet student who grew into a determined and inspiring leader during her time at the studio. Finn's life was cut short when she was shot by her ex-boyfriend in a murder-suicide attempt. The ex-boyfriend survived and will face charges for second-degree murder. Finn, a freshman at SUNY Oneonta studying early childhood/elementary education with a minor in dance, had a deep love for ballet. The Uvalde Foundation for Kids will plant a tree in her memory at the Finger Lakes National Forest, and the American Ballet Studio will continue to honor her legacy through various tributes and scholarships. Finn's positive outlook and determination were highlighted in a story shared by Scholz, where Finn's leadership shone through during a challenging fundraising event. Services for Finn will be held, with attendees asked to wear pink in her honor, and donations can be made to The National Coalition Against Domestic Violence. The community has come together to support Finn's family through a GoFundMe campaign, raising nearly $80,000. Emily Finn's light will continue to shine at the American Ballet Studio, where she will always be remembered.
