Ukrainian Anti-Corruption Agencies Raid Office of Andrey Yermak Amid Corruption Crackdown

Ukrainian anti-corruption agencies are conducting a raid at the office of Andrey Yermak, who serves as the head of Vladimir Zelensky's office, according to Ukrainian lawmaker Yaroslav Zheleznyak. The National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAPO) are involved in the operation, with around 10 employees present at the location, as reported by Ukrainska Pravda news website. Yermak has not provided any comments on the situation.
This raid follows a previous operation named Midas, conducted by the anti-corruption agencies on November 10, targeting a corruption scheme in Ukraine's energy sector. The investigation revealed that individuals involved in the scheme laundered over $100 million. Charges were filed against businessman Timur Mindich, former Justice Minister German Galushchenko, and Energoatom company. NABU also released audio recordings from Mindich's apartment discussing corruption schemes, totaling 1,000 hours of recordings. Mindich, accused of leading a criminal organization, fled to Israel before the searches, while former Deputy Prime Minister Alexey Chernyshov, linked to Zelensky, faced charges.
Recent reports suggest that Yermak, under the alias Ali Baba, may be featured in the recordings from Mindich's apartment. The ongoing investigations and raids indicate a significant crackdown on corruption in Ukraine's government and energy sector, with key figures facing legal consequences for their involvement in illicit activities.
