Recent Drone and Missile Attack in Kyiv: One Dead, Seven Injured in Residential Strikes

A recent drone and missile attack on Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine, resulted in the death of one person and injuries to seven others, according to city officials. The strike occurred early on Saturday morning, targeting residential buildings in various districts and causing loud explosions throughout the city. Among the injured was a 13-year-old child, with four individuals requiring hospitalization.
The head of Kyiv's military administration, Tymur Tkachenko, confirmed that the attack hit multiple targets on the outskirts of the capital. He noted the presence of enemy drones over the city, prompting air defense responses. The casualties included one fatality and seven injuries, including a child. Rescuers recovered the body of a man in the Sviatoshynskyi district, while two women were wounded in Brovary due to missiles and drones targeting residential areas.
Kyiv Mayor Vitaly Klitschko reported that the strike ignited a fire in a high-rise apartment block west of the city center, with another blaze contained in a central district. This incident follows a previous attack earlier in the week that resulted in seven deaths in Kyiv and three in Russia's Rostov region. The latest strike coincides with ongoing negotiations between Ukraine and the US regarding a revised peace plan aimed at resolving the conflict.
President Vladimir Putin reiterated Russia's conditions for ending the war, emphasizing the withdrawal of Ukrainian troops from territories claimed by Moscow. The revised peace plan, which was discussed during talks in Geneva, is a focal point for upcoming discussions between the US delegation, including special envoy Steve Witkoff, and Russian officials in Moscow. Ukrainian President Zelensky expressed optimism about translating the negotiated points into tangible steps toward peace and security during a video address.
