Revocation Requested: Morgan Geyser's Conditional Release in Jeopardy After Escape

Wisconsin authorities have requested the revocation of Morgan Geyser's conditional release after she escaped from a group home. Geyser, known for a 2014 incident where she nearly killed her classmate in the name of Slender Man, was found outside of Chicago after cutting off her GPS monitoring bracelet and fleeing with a companion. Her attorney has not commented on the state's request to revoke her release, and she may face new charges if her release is revoked.

Geyser's companion, who has been charged with trespassing and obstruction, claimed that Geyser fled because she feared they would no longer be allowed to see each other at the group home. The two took a bus overnight into Illinois after Geyser cut off her monitoring bracelet. Geyser and her friend, Anissa Weier, were involved in the 2014 attack on their classmate, Payton Leutner, in hopes of impressing Slender Man. Both Geyser and Weier were committed to a state mental institution following the incident.

Geyser, now 23, was granted conditional release in September after multiple requests. However, state health officials had previously tried to block her release, citing concerns about her communication with individuals involved in disturbing activities. Despite these concerns, a judge approved her release earlier this year. Weier was granted conditional release in 2021, while Geyser's release is now in jeopardy following her recent escape.

The Department of Corrections has filed a petition to revoke Geyser's conditional release, and she may be sent back to the mental institution where she spent most of the past eight years. The outcome of this legal process will determine Geyser's future and potential charges related to her escape. The situation remains ongoing as Wisconsin authorities work to address the circumstances surrounding Geyser's escape and subsequent apprehension.
