Ariana Grande's Journey from Disney Rumors to Wicked: For Good and Beyond

Ariana Grande was previously considered for a major live-action Disney project, but she is now starring in Wicked: For Good, currently showing in theaters in the United States. In this sequel to the 2024 film Wicked, Grande portrays Glinda, while Cynthia Erivo takes on the role of Elphaba Thropp. Rumors suggest that Grande was once eyed for the role of Rapunzel in the live-action Tangled movie, but Disney reportedly deemed her too old for the part. Although there is no official confirmation from Disney regarding Grande's potential involvement in the Tangled project, it is known that a live-action adaptation of Tangled is in the works, with Michael Gracey directing and Jennifer Kaylin Robinson penning the script. Development on the Tangled movie was briefly halted earlier this year following the underperformance of the live-action Snow White remake. However, recent reports indicate that the project is back in early development, with Scarlett Johansson in talks to play Mother Gothel. The release date for the live-action Tangled remake has not been announced yet. After her role in Wicked: For Good, Grande will appear in Meet the Parents 4, titled Focker In-Law, set to be released in November 2026. Directed by John Hamburg, the film also features Robert De Niro, Ben Stiller, Owen Wilson, Teri Polo, Blythe Danner, and more.
