Behind the Scenes: Filming 'Michael' at Neverland Ranch - A Look at the Iconic Estate and the Biopic's Production

A biopic about Michael Jackson, titled Michael, was filmed at the iconic Neverland Ranch, as revealed by a film permit obtained by Us Weekly. The production took place in April 2024, featuring scenes both inside and outside the estate, including a petting zoo and helicopter sequences. The film, set to be released on April 24, 2026, stars Jaafar Jackson as Michael, Colman Domingo as Joe Jackson, and Nia Long as Katherine Jackson. Due to a legal issue regarding the portrayal of one of Michael's accusers, reshoots were necessary, delaying the original release date. Michael Jackson purchased the property in 1988 and renamed it Neverland Ranch, using it until 2005. Despite facing foreclosure in 2008, the property was saved through a deal with an investment group. Eventually, the ranch was sold to billionaire Ron Burkle in 2020 for $22 million. Paris Jackson, Michael's daughter, is currently embroiled in a legal dispute over her father's estate.
