Turning Point USA Chapter at Loyola University New Orleans: Student Court Overturns SGA Decision

A recent development at Loyola University New Orleans saw the student court overturn the Student Government Association's decision to prevent a new Turning Point USA chapter from becoming an official campus organization. The decision came after an appeal by the aspiring Turning Point members, supported by two Loyola New Orleans law school students. The SGA will now vote again on whether to grant TPUSA a charter, with the date of the vote yet to be scheduled.

Ethan Estis, one of the law school students involved in drafting the appeal, expressed satisfaction with the court's decision, highlighting the students' determination and resilience. The Court of Review's ruling pointed out deviations from standard SGA voting procedures during the Oct. 15 meeting where the initial decision was made. It also dismissed the reasons cited by the SGA for denying the chapter official recognition, stating that they were not valid concerns.

The court emphasized that the SGA had overstepped its authority by demanding a detailed budget plan from the chapter, despite knowing that the national TPUSA organization would provide funding. Loyola New Orleans has not yet responded to requests for comment on the matter. This is an ongoing story, and updates will be provided as they become available.
