Tragic End to the Search: The Story of Mikey Rijavec, SD Fisherman
A San Diego fisherman, known for his YouTube channel SD Fish and Sips, went missing during a fishing trip off the coast of Baja California, Mexico. Mikey Rijavec encountered engine problems with his solo skiff, leading to a distress call on November 11. Despite efforts to fix the issues, the boat capsized, leaving Rijavec's fate unknown. Search and rescue operations involving U.S. and Mexican authorities, as well as local boats and private planes, were conducted to locate him.
After four days of searching, Rijavec's family decided to end the search on November 15, acknowledging the lack of confirmed details about his disappearance. Although his boat was recovered, his body remained missing until it was discovered in the waters near San Cristobal the day after the search was called off. The tragic outcome marked the end of a harrowing ordeal for Rijavec's loved ones, who had tirelessly sought closure during the search efforts.
