Push for Epstein Files Release: Bipartisan Efforts and Political Maneuvering

Rep. Ro Khanna, a Democratic representative from California, emphasized that the push to release files related to Jeffrey Epstein is focused on seeking justice for survivors of Epstein's abuse. Khanna called on President Trump to meet with the survivors during their visit to Washington. He collaborated with Rep. Thomas Massie, a Republican from Kentucky, on a petition urging the Justice Department to disclose any Epstein-related documents, which garnered enough signatures to prompt a House floor vote. Despite Trump dismissing the efforts as a "hoax," Khanna believes that releasing the files could be a political win for the president. Senate Majority Whip John Barrasso, a Republican from Wyoming, criticized the push to release the files as an attempt to undermine Trump's presidency, but did not commit to holding a Senate vote on the matter. Trump reportedly tried to persuade GOP House lawmakers to remove their names from the petition, but some lawmakers, including Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, refused to do so.
