The Weeknd Donates $350,000 to Aid Hurricane Beryl Recovery in Jamaica

Grammy-winning musician The Weeknd has made a generous donation of $350,000 to assist in the recovery efforts in Jamaica following the destruction caused by Hurricane Beryl. The donation was facilitated through The Weeknd’s XO Humanitarian Fund in collaboration with the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP). This financial support will aid in providing emergency food assistance to the communities most affected by the hurricane, which struck in early July as a powerful Category 4 storm.

Hurricane Beryl caused extensive damage in Jamaica, resulting in severe winds and heavy rainfall that left numerous families without homes, electricity, or access to clean water. The Weeknd's contribution will enable WFP to distribute essential food supplies promptly and support long-term recovery and resilience-building initiatives in the impacted regions. The artist, whose real name is Abel Tesfaye, established the XO Humanitarian Fund in 2022 to assist in global hunger relief efforts. The fund has already provided aid in crisis areas such as Ethiopia, Gaza, and Lebanon, raising and distributing millions of dollars through WFP's worldwide operations.

WFP has commended The Weeknd for his ongoing support and emphasized the critical nature of relief efforts in the Caribbean, where climate-related disasters are becoming more severe and frequent. According to WFP officials, the artist's donation will have an immediate impact on thousands of Jamaicans affected by Hurricane Beryl.
