Law enforcement vehicles were in a crash in Alcoa during a security motorcade for Vice President JD Vance. The crash involved a Tennessee Highway Patrol trooper and a Maryville Police Department motor unit. A Maryville police officer was taken to the University of Tennessee Medical Center for evaluation and treatment. Vice President Vance arrived at McGhee Tyson Air National Guard Base in Alcoa for a fundraiser around 5:30 p.m. The Tennessee Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
