Syria Joins Global Coalition Against Islamic State: A Closer Look at the Country's Role in the Fight

Syria has officially joined the global coalition against the Islamic State, as announced by a Syrian official following President Ahmad al-Sharaa's visit to Washington. Despite this, Syria is not actively participating in the U.S.-led military efforts against the extremist group. During the meeting between al-Sharaa and President Donald Trump, Syria expressed its willingness to be part of the coalition, although there is no formal agreement in place, according to Syrian Minister of Information Hamza al-Mustafa.
