Tragic Crash in Ybor City: Four Lives Lost in Devastating Incident

A tragic crash in Ybor City early Saturday morning resulted in the deaths of four individuals, according to the Tampa Police Department. The incident began when police air units observed two vehicles racing on Hillsborough Avenue towards Interstate 275 around 12:40 a.m. One vehicle continued on I-275, while the other exited downtown, where the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) attempted to stop it at Nebraska and Palm. Despite FHP's efforts, the speeding car evaded capture, leading to a devastating outcome.
Sergeant Steve Gaskins provided details at a press conference, revealing that the driver entered Ybor City, speeding down 7th Avenue and striking over a dozen people near Bradley's. Tragically, three victims lost their lives at the scene, with a fourth individual succumbing to injuries at the hospital. At least five others were injured, with one in critical condition and eight in stable condition at local medical facilities. The suspect, identified as 22-year-old Silas Sampson, was apprehended at the crash site and is expected to face charges of vehicular homicide, with additional felonies pending.
The Tampa Police Department confirmed that all the victims were adults aged 20 and above.
