Costco Recall Alert: Kirkland Signature Valdobbiadene Prosecco DOCG Bottles

Ethica Wines, under the name F&F Fine Wines International, Inc., has initiated a recall of close to 1 million bottles of Kirkland Signature Valdobbiadene Prosecco DOCG, available at Costco. The U.S. Consumer Products Safety Commission (CPSC) made the announcement regarding the recall due to the potential hazard of the Prosecco bottles breaking or shattering, which could lead to laceration injuries. The affected Prosecco bottles have a specific Universal Product Code (UPC) of 196633883742 and a Costco Item Number of 1879870. These bottles were sold in green packaging with purple foil and a purple label bearing the words "Kirkland Signature Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG."

The recall affects Prosecco bottles that were distributed in Costco stores across several states, including Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, North Dakota, Nebraska, Ohio, South Dakota, and Wisconsin, between April 2025 and August 2025, at a retail price of approximately $8 per bottle. Consumers who have purchased these recalled bottles are advised to discontinue their use immediately and refrain from attempting to open them. Instead, they should dispose of the bottles in their household trash and contact Ethica Wines for guidance on how to receive a full refund from Costco.

For consumers seeking a refund, Ethica Wines has provided contact information through a Facebook post. They can reach out via email at [email protected] or by phone at 786-810-7132. This recall follows a previous notice issued by Costco regarding the same product, emphasizing the importance of consumer safety and awareness when dealing with potentially hazardous items.
