Britney Spears: A Resurgence in the Dance/Electronic Music Scene

Britney Spears has been absent from the music scene for almost a decade since her last album, Glory, was released in 2016. Despite her hiatus, she recently made a comeback on the Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart with the remix of "I Wanna Go" alongside producer John Summit. This marks her eleventh appearance on the chart, with two previous number one hits in collaboration with will.i.am and Elton John.

The original version of "I Wanna Go" was released over a decade ago as part of Spears's album Femme Fatale. While the original track did not make it onto the Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart, the recent remix has gained popularity and climbed the rankings. Additionally, a mashup of Spears's hit "Toxic" with Ginuwine's "Pony" titled "Toxic Pony" also made waves on the Pop Airplay chart in 2022.

Despite not actively working on new music, Spears's older tracks have been experiencing a resurgence in popularity. "Scary," a song previously only available on the Japanese deluxe edition of Femme Fatale, was recently given a wide release by her record label. The song saw a significant increase in sales just before Halloween, showcasing the enduring appeal of Spears's music to her fans.
