Rehda Welcomes Government's Decision on Housing Delivery Systems
The Real Estate and Housing Developers' Association Malaysia (Rehda) has welcomed the government's decision to maintain both the build-then-sell (BTS) and sell-then-build (STB) housing delivery systems. This move, as announced by Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming, demonstrates the government's commitment to addressing the needs of the people and considering input from all industry stakeholders to ensure the property sector remains strong and healthy.
Rehda president Datuk Ir Ho Hon Sang emphasized the importance of the STB system in making housing more affordable for the public over the years. Ho Hon Sang also mentioned that buyers still have the option to purchase BTS homes in the secondary market, where a significant portion of housing transactions takes place.
Additionally, Rehda encouraged capable developers to consider the BTS 10:90 scheme outlined in the Housing Development (Control and Licensing) Act 1966 (Act 118) if feasible. The association expressed its support for the housing reform plan outlined by Minister Nga in Parliament and reiterated its commitment to encouraging members to fulfill their role in nation-building by delivering quality, affordable homes to the public in a sustainable manner.
